Terms of service.

These terms apply when you use jsdrop, with or without an account. By using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use jsdrop.

The service

jsdrop lets you write Node.js programs in the browser, run them in your browser, collaborate live, keep versions, publish public pages, embed them, and, with Pro, deploy drops to run on our servers, give them environment variables, serve them on your own domains, and keep drops private. jsdrop is a young service: we may add, change, or remove features over time.

Shared with HTMLDrop

jsdrop and HTMLDrop (htmldrop.com) are run together and share one account system. Signing in to either signs you in with the same account, and one Pro subscription covers both. These terms apply to your use of jsdrop; HTMLDrop has its own terms.

Guest drops are public and shared

You can use jsdrop without an account. A guest drop is public, and anyone with its editor link can change it; this is deliberate. Fork a drop to get your own copy. Never put passwords, keys, personal data, or other secrets in a drop’s code, including private drops. Use environment variables for secrets.

Accounts

Signing in lets you own drops. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your sign-in method secure. Drops you own can be edited only by you and the editors you invite. You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live.

Your content

You keep the rights to the code and content you create. You give jsdrop the permission needed to store, run, display, cache, and back up it in order to provide the service. When a drop is public, you also allow anyone to view it, run it, embed it, and fork it on jsdrop. You confirm that you have the right to publish what you put in a drop, including the packages it installs.

Running code

Run executes a drop in the visitor’s own browser, on an isolated origin. Only run code you are willing to run: a drop can make network requests from your browser while it runs. Public tunnel URLs let anyone reach a server while your tab runs it.

Acceptable use

• No malware, phishing, impersonation, credential harvesting, or deceptive pages.
• No cryptocurrency mining, denial-of-service, scanning, or attacks on other systems.
• No sending spam, and no scraping that breaks a site’s terms or the law.
• Nothing illegal, and no content that sexualises minors, promotes violence, or harasses people.
• No attempts to get around rate limits, resource limits, the sandbox, or other security measures.
• No use of deployed drops for file hosting, proxies, or open relays, or at a scale that harms the service.

Moderation

We may remove or hide drops, including guest drops, stop deployed drops, disable custom domains, and suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put people or the service at risk. Where reasonable, we will tell account holders why.

Pro subscriptions

Pro is billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through Stripe, at the price shown at checkout. One subscription covers both jsdrop and HTMLDrop. It renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account; Pro then continues until the end of the paid period. Payments are not refunded for partial periods, except where the law requires it. If Pro ends, deployed drops stop, custom domains stop serving, private drops stay private but you cannot make new ones, and the jsdrop badge returns on public drops. We may change prices for future periods with notice.

Deployed drops

Deployed drops run with limited CPU, memory, and storage, and may be restarted at any time, for example when a new version is saved or our servers move. Anything a drop keeps in memory or on disk can be lost on restart. We do not guarantee uptime.

Custom domains

You may only connect domains you own or are authorised to use. You are responsible for your DNS records. We may refuse or remove a domain, for example if it is used for abuse or if DNS stops pointing to jsdrop.

AI assistants

The assistant uses your own Anthropic or OpenAI API key. When you send a request, the drop’s source is sent to that provider under its terms, and usage is billed to your account with them. AI output can be wrong or unsafe: review changes before you rely on them.

No warranty

jsdrop is provided as is and as available. We work to keep it running and your data safe, but we do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost. Keep your own copies of work that matters; every drop can be exported.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, jsdrop is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost data, and its total liability is limited to the amount you paid for jsdrop in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.

Ending use

You can stop using jsdrop at any time and delete the drops you own. We may end or suspend access for breaches of these terms. Guest drops you created remain public unless they are removed through moderation.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. We will update the date above, and tell account holders about material changes before they take effect. Continuing to use jsdrop after that means you accept the updated terms.
